We went to pheasant for lunch today, first time since the revamp it won’t be the last. Truly excellent the lunch we had was the best we have ever had and we have had meals in most of the hotel/Pubs around the Norfolk Coast. The decor, the staff ,the service and the food is first class, good portions at very fair prices, the belly pork salad starter we both had was spot on lovely flavours, the sea bass my wife had was the best she has ever had and she always goes for the sea bass it wasnt just 1 piece of sea bass either, I had the chicken breast with chizirio mash wonderful don’t drive past drive in.

“Well done everyone at the Pheasant what a fantastic improvement!”
On 24th July we were visiting family in the area, thinking we were a little early to arrive, we reluctantly decided to stop off at the Pheasant for a drink, I say reluctantly because we had stayed there a few years back and had not been at all impressed, had a reasonably nice room, upstairs, but the food was very poor. However, what a pleasant surprise, it was lovely, we had no idea it had changed hands, what a good job the new owners have made. We went in through the front door and into the bar, where we found the staff to be very helpful and pleasant, we decided to have our drinks in the garden, each table had a parasol for which I was extremely grateful, as it was quite hot. Our drinks were brought to the table by a very nice waiter, we were so happy there we had a second drink and enquired of the waiter whether it had indeed changed hands as it was so very much improved from our last visit. Anyway on the 25th we were a little peckish so decided to go back to the Pheasant, again in the garden, we enjoyed a sausage sandwich, as it was already nearly 3pm, we asked if we may have just one sandwich with two plates, (there was an option to substitute crisps for chips) we agreed chips would be nice, together with a couple of drinks, well when the sandwich arrived the waiter said we have already put it on to two plates for you, which was great, half a sandwich each, salad garnish & a good portion of chips each and a LINEN napkin, it was delicious, all served with so much thought. On the next table folk were enjoying an afternoon tea ! Yes on the 26th we went back again to the Pheasant for afternoon tea, again we asked if we may share one tea with an extra cup of coffee. This was all served on bone china, with a tiered cake stand, except the coffee which came in a ghastly large thick breakfast cup, it really let the side down, especially as the tea was served in a china pot, with proper tea and a strainer ! the teapot held 4 cups, we had 6 finger sandwiches, smoked salmon, cucumber & ham, a large scone, cut in half with a choice of jam in little jars, cream and 2 fresh strawberries, we also had 3 little macaroons, 2 dainty chocolate brownies and 2 slices of bakewell, well similar to bakewell, again linen napkins. Such care and attention to detail (except the coffee cup), all served by pleasant staff. By the way the loos are to die for !!! We will definitely be returning. Well done everyone at the Pheasant what a fantastic improvement, always difficult to rebuild a good reputation, but I will certainly be passing the word round.

“…stayed at a number of dog friendly hotels but this is by far the best. A great experience.”
Have just returned from a two night stay at the Pheasant, having had a short break with family members and my pet dog. What a lovely place! The staff really are second to none and commit themselves fully to ensuring your stay is a delight. Their genuine service was warmly extended to my pet dog who enjoyed days out in the surrounding countryside and dog friendly beaches, followed by warm evenings joining the family in the comfortable Pheasant bar/lounge. I have stayed at a number of dog friendly hotels but this is by far the best. A great experience.
